Chennai: DMK members of the Tamil Nadu assembly
on Wednesday met Governor K Rosaiah and alleged that the AIADMK
government was "violating" fundamental rights, human rights
and directives of the Supreme Court and wanted him to take
"appropriate action".
In their 12-page memorandum, the members charged that the
AIADMK government "has conspired with certain vested-groups,
which have been hostile to the DMK, due to its Dravidian
origin and ideals, principles of social reform and Tamil
renaissance".

Referring to the Jayalalithaa government`s crack down on
the land grabbing cases in the State between 2006 and 2011,
they charged it was "only a ruse to foist cases against DMK
functionaries and destroy the image of the party in the eyes
of the public".

They alleged that the State administration has given
"secret instructions to the police to launch ulterior criminal
action against the functionaries of the DMK by top priority"
in the complaints relating to them.

Alleging that cases are being fabricated against its
partymen only after arrest, they termed it a "violation of
human rights," since the arrests were made "without proper
arrest memo and produced before the Magisrate without proper
documents".

They also alleged that in contravention of the guidelines
of the Supreme Court to incarcerate arrested persons only in
prisons nearer to their home towns, the arrested DMK
functionaries were not detained in the jurisdictional prisons
and are "purposely" lodged in far off prisons.
Earlier, all the DMK members staged a walkout from the
assembly, led by senior party leader Duraimurugan, just
after the Speaker took his Chair. They did not explain the
reason behind the walkout.
