Jaya Vs N Ram: TN court to hear defamation case

New Delhi: A Chennai court will on Friday hear a criminal defamation case filed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa against 'The Hindu' newspaper's former editor-in-chief N Ram, for publishing a controversial article earlier carried by Tamil magazine Nakheeran.

In her petition, the AIADMK chief has alleged that N Ram allowed the publication of the controversial article without checking the veracity of the content.

Jaya Lalitha has not asked for compensation but wants N Ram to be prosecuted for the publication.

Nakkeeran reportedly published a cover story on 8th of November last year about the Chief Minister eating beef and 'The Hindu' carried the article the very next day.

Enraged AIADMK workers later vandalised Nakkeeran's office after the story went viral.

Jayalalitha is justified in fighting for her reputation. She is a Hindu and Hindoo`s do not eat beef. Eating beef amounts to an act of irreligiosity or blasphemy. She has done the corret thing by going to court and N.Ram must either produce proof that she ate beef or render public apology for wrong publication

The news item published by THE HINDU was believed to be something related to Food, Non-Veg that Ms.Jayalalitha was alleged to have consumed. Whats wrong in it? Why should she go to Court to disprove the allegation? If she hadnt or doesnt eat Beef, there ends the matter. Or is it to show she dislikes people eating beef? Muslims, Christians, and a large section of Hindus like Malayalis? People who have brain will understand her true self.ation
