Jayakumar, Dhanapal set to become TN Speaker, Deputy Speaker

The two MLAs filed their nominations before Assembly Secretary A MP Jamaludeen.

Chennai: AIADMK legislators D Jayakumar
and P Dhanapal are set to become Speaker and Deputy Speaker of
the 14th Tamil Nadu Assembly.

The two MLAs filed their nominations before Assembly
Secretary A M P Jamaludeen on Thursday.

Since no other nominations were received, the two are
all set to be elected unopposed to the posts.

Jayakumar is a former minister and the AIADMK MLA from
Royapuram in Chennai, while Dhanapal represents Rasipuram
constituency.

Their election will be officially announced tomorrow
by pro-tem Speaker C K Thamizharasan, Jamaludeen said.

The AIADMK had stormed to power after the April 13
polls, securing 150 seats in the 234-member house.
