Chennai: Tamil Nadu Assembly on Tuesday witnessed
some light moments when Chief Minister J Jayalalitha told the
Speaker that the microphones attached on members` desk were
non-adjustable and they should be replaced so that "men could
talk like men".
Intervening during the question hour when Electricity
Minister R Viswanathan was making a reply, Jayalalitha told
the Speaker D Jayakumar that the microphones were not
adjustable.
"It is ok for others. But the Electricity Minister is a
tall man and he has to bend over to talk on the microphone. So
is the case with some others too. Men should talk like men,"
(standing tall) she said to peels of laughter and loud
thumping of benches by the AIADMK members.
A smiling Jayakumar said he will look into the matter and
take action.
