Jayalalithaa convenes meeting of alliance partners

AIADMK General Secretary Jayalalithaa on Tuesday convened a meeting with leaders of alliance parties -- MDMK, CPI and CPI-M -- to discuss about next month`s Rajya Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu.

MDMK General Secretary Vaiko, CPI state Deputy General
Secretary Mahendran and CPI-M state Secretary G Ramakrishnan,
who met Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence, told
reporters that they would extend their support to AIADMK in
the polls to the Upper House.
AIADMK, which has 57 members in the Tamil Nadu
Assembly, needed the help of its allies CPI-M (9), CPI (6) and
MDMK (3) to get two of its representatives elected.

AIADMK has convened its executive meeting on Thursday
to discuss its strategy for the elections.
