Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Government today
said working Journalists would be included under the Kalaignar
Health Insurance Scheme from this year.

Journalists with an annual income of less than Rs 72,000
would be enrolled, Information Minister Parithi Illamvazhuthi
told the State Assembly.

The scheme for life saving treatment was launched by the
government last year.

He said a special camp would be conducted for journalists
across all the districts for this purpose.

In addition to this, the Government would also announce a
new health insurance scheme for those journalists with an
annual income of over Rs 72,000.

The government will pay 67 per cent of the premium and if
organisations or journalists associations were prepared to pay
the rest, a plan would be formulated.
