Erode: The recently formed Special Police Wing to investigate land grabbing cases in the district has retrieved to its rightful owner 22 acres of land worth Rs 4.40 crore that had been sold to many with the help of forged documents, police said.
Five persons, including an AIADMK local functionary, from Pallipalayam, Namakkal district were arrested yesterday in connection with the crime, Erode District Superintendent of Police T Jayachandran said in a release.
Balamurugan of Kesarimangalam village in Bhavani taluk in the district had filed a complaint a few days ago that the land, which was bequeathed by his grandfather, had been sold to other people without his knowledge or consent, the release said.
Police, who are on the lookout for 10 more persons in connection with the case, said 15 persons had used forged documents of the land and sold it to some others.
Police retrieved the land from the buyers and handed over the same to Balamurugan yesterday, the release said.
