LPG strike in TN: Supply to more than 20 dists may be hit

LPG supply to more than 20 districts are likely to be hit as about 140 LPG tanker drivers operating from filling plant at Inamulathur will go on strike from tomorrow.

Tiruchirapalli: LPG supply to more than 20 districts are likely to be hit as about 140 LPG tanker drivers operating from the nearby filling plant at Inamulathur will go on strike from tomorrow, demanding better pay and basic amenities like rest room and toilets.
The LPG tanker lorry association`s demands include payment of Rs 600 as daily allowance for local trips and 15 per cent of the collection amount for outstation works, apart from Rs 2000 as fixed monthly salary.

The LPG tankers are being operated on contract basis.

Officials said supply to about 20 districts like Karur, Tiruchirapalli, Pudukottai, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Madurai, Theni, Sivaganga, Cuddalore, Villipuram, Dindigul, Coimbatore, Virudhunagar and Ramanathapuram districts would be affected if the drivers went ahead with their strike.
