Madurai: A man accused of murdering a
five-year old girl and `sacrificing` her blood to god,
suffered serious injuries on Thursday after he jumped from the first
floor of the Government Hospital, where he was receiving
treatment, police said.
Karuppan (40) was arrested recently for allegedly
slitting the girl`s throat after kidnapping her when she was
playing in front of her house near here on January 1.
Karuppan`s father, who was also arrested, had held the
girl`s legs while his son allegedly slit the throat and filled
the blood flowing out in a cup for offering to God, police
said.
On interrogation, Karuppan`s father had said his son
had threatened him and asked him to hold the legs while he
committed the gory deed.
Police found the girl`s body in a bag near her house
and had arrested Karuppan on suspicion. But even before he was
taken into custody Karuppan cut his tongue with a knife
following which he was admitted to the Government Rajaji
hospital some five days ago.
Karuppan has suffered severe fracture and is in the
hospital`s intensive care unit, police said.
