Coimbatore: A man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 14-year-old handicapped niece at her house near here, police said.
The girl, on crutches, was alone in the house, when her maternal uncle, a labourer, came there last evening and allegedly raped her, police said.
Seeing the parents returning, the man hid under the cot but was held by the girl's father when he tried to flee.
Locals thrashed him and handed him over to police, sources said. He has been remanded to judicial custody and lodged in the Central Jail here.
The girl is undergoing treatment at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital.
