Virudhunagar: One person was killed and 16 injured on Monday when the van in which they were travelling rammed a wall of a bridge near here, police said.
They were proceeding from Theni to Otapitaram in Tuticorin district this morning to attend the birth anniversary celebrations of freedom fighter VO Chidambaranar when the driver lost control of the vehicle, police said.
The injured, including the driver, have been admitted to hospital.
