Queen Bee Jaya wants to “rebuild” TN
AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa said she has an enormous task at hand to “rebuild” the state.
Chennai: Basking in the glory following the stunning victory registered by AIADMK in the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, party chief J Jayalalithaa on Friday said that she has an enormous task at hand to “rebuild” the state, especially its economy.
In her first comments, Jayalalithaa said, “First of all I would like to express my profound gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu for the resounding victory they have given to us. This is not our victory but the victory of the people and that of democracy.”
The two-time former CM said that wherever she went in the past three years she could see the will of the people. They were disgusted with the DMK and waiting for a chance to change things.
“They were waiting for the election date,” she said.
On her priorities she said, “Our first and foremost priority would be to re-establish the rule of law.”
“The havoc is beyond description. The challenge is to rebuild the state’s economy, but we will take it up as a challenge,” she added.
Jayalalithaa also announced that all the promises made in her party’s manifesto would be fulfilled within the first 1 ½ years.
Today morning, after it became clear that her Poes Gardens residence in Chennai is once again going to be the most important address in the city, Jayalalithaa’s comments on the clean sweep were eagerly awaited; she did make an appearance on the balcony of her bungalow to wave to the supporters but headed back in and emerged out again only past 3.30 pm to interact with the media.
