Chennai: A rebel DMDK legislator on Tuesday hailed Chief Minister Jayalalithaa as yet another "Anna", drawing loud thumping of desks by the ruling AIADMK members.
During question hour in the Assembly, DMDK rebel member M Arun Subramanian praised Jayalalithaa for her victory in RK Nagar bypoll and lauded the slew of welfare and administrative measures like 'Amma Thittam' being implemented in her regime.
He lauded her as "yet another Anna in her knowledge" which was welcomed by the treasury benches with thumping of desks.
He later wanted to know if the government had any proposal for an alternative hill pathway on the western area to the Subramania Swamy temple in Tiruttani in neighbouring Tiruvallur District.
"This is an appeal of the people for the past 50 years," he said.
Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister R Kamaraj said that steps were being taken in this regard and said "Amma's regime fulfilled people's expectations."
