Reshuffle in TN Cabinet; Mohammed Jaan minister

Tamil Nadu Governor appointed A Mohammed Jaan as Minister to fill the vacuum created by the death of Mariam Pitchai.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh
Barnala on Monday appointed A Mohammed Jaan as Minister to fill
the vacuum created by the death of Mariam Pitchai, Minister
for Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare, who died in a
road accident last month.

He would be sworn-in on June 29 here, a Raj Bhavan
communiqué said.

The Governor had also effected changes in the portfolios
of some of the Ministers on the advice of Chief Minister
Jayalalithaa.

Industries Minister C Shanmugavelu has been shifted as
Rural Industries Minister, replacing M C Sampath.

The new Industries Minister is SP Velumani, whose
portfolio- Special Programme Implementation- had been given to
MC Sampath.

Animal Husbandry Minister C Karuppasamy and Sports and
Youth Welfare Minister NR Sivapathy have swapped portfolios.

TKM Chinnaiah, who was given additional charge of
Backward Classes and Minority Welfare, retained the
Environment and Pollution Control portfolios.
