Sasikala`s appln rejected, case adjourned

The Special Court trying the wealth case against TN CM Jayalalithaa rejected the application of her aide and co-accused Sasikala Natarajan.

Bangalore: The Special Court trying the wealth
case against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday
rejected the application of her aide and co-accused Sasikala
Natarajan, seeking various documents filed by the prosecution
but not marked as exhibits in court.

Special Court judge BM Mallikarjunaiah rejected the
application filed by C Manishankhar and adjourned the case to
April 12 for further recording of the statement of Sasikala
under section 313 of the CrPC.

Manishankhar had filed an application under 207, 243(2) of
CrPC read with Rule 2 of Chapter 14 of Karnataka Criminal
Rules of Practice 1968, seeking various documents filed by the
prosecution but which have not been marked as exhibits.

Manishankhar had submitted that unless the documents are
furnished, it would not be possible for Sasikala to
satisfactorily explain the questions put to her by the court
under section 313 CrPC.

The case, relating to alleged accumulation of wealth by
Jayalalithaa when she was Chief Minister from 1991-95, had
been transferred to Bangalore by the Supreme Court.
