Chennai: The Tamil Nadu State Election
Commission (SEC) today said it was looking into complaints of
alleged irregularities in Monday`s first phase of polling for
local bodies.

State Election Commissioner S Ayyar is looking into
complaints in Chennai Corporation, an official release said,
even as opposition parties had demanded repolling in many
booths alleging booth-capturing and bogus voting by ruling
AIADMK.

Ayyar held an enquiry with representatives of political
parties and their candidates and verified documents, it said.

The Opposition had alleged large-scale irregularities by
AIADMK when polling for 10 corporations and many other local
bodies were held across the state.

Ayyar had on Monday dismissed as "rumours," reports of
irregularities. Among those who had complained to him were
DMK`s Mayoral Candidate M Subramaniam.

Political parties, including CPI(M) have demanded repolling
