Chennai: Lauding the Budget presented by
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M
Karunanidhi on Monday said that it would propel overall socio-economic
development and benefit people from various walks of life.
A key constituent of Congress-led UPA at the Centre,
the DMK president also had words of praise for Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for `guiding`
Mukherjee to design a budget that would benefit various
sections of people.
"Excellent provisions have been made to increase farm
output and ensure easy availability of farm credit. While
allocation of Rs 300 crore each towards encouraging production
of pulses and palm cultivation, increasing oil seeds
production and millets and maize is welcome, the amount
allocated is not enough and I hope it will be increased", he
