Tamil Nadu: Murder threat to 12 leaders of various Hindu outfits

Coimbatore: The BJP office in Coimbatore on Tuesday received a letter threatening to kill 12 people belonging to various Sangh Parivar organisations if their demand for immediate release of Abdul Nassar Madani, the Kerala-based PDP leader who is an accused in the 2008 Bangalore serial bomb blasts, was not met immediately, police said.
The letter sought immediate release of Madani lodged in a jail in Bangalore. It threatened to kill leaders of various organisations of BJP, including Hindu Munnani and VHP, if their demand was not met, police sources said. Tamil Nadu BJP Secretary, GKS Selvakumar and district BJP president, Nanda Kumar met city Police Commissioner AK Vishwanathan and sought protection to front-ranking leaders of these organisations. The typed letter, posted in Palakkad in Kerala on Sunday, read “we urge the immediate release of our leader Abdul Nasser Mahdhani with immediate effect. If you fail to do so by withdrawing all cases registered against him in Bangalore, you will witness the funeral your leaders. Stop Lotus Channel immediately and say publicly sorry to islamic society (sic)”. The city is under tight vigil and surveillance of police since the the murder of BJP Tamil Nadu General Secretary V Ramesh in Salem on 19 July. Senior BJP leader L K Advani is scheduled to attend a condolence meeting at Salem on 1 August. PTI
