Tamil Nadu: Student slits lover`s throat

A college student murdered his lover by slitting her throat when she refused to marry him, police said.

Tiruvarur: A college student on Thursday murdered his lover by slitting her throat when she refused to marry him, police said.

The 22-year-old boy then inflicted cut injuries on himself and then surrendered to police. The 16-year-old girl was studying at a Government Higher Secondary School near here. She had left her house along with the boy recently but her parents managed to locate her and persuaded her to return. Angered by her sudden indifference to him besides refusing to marry him, saying she would listen only to her parents, the boy called her to a nearby field and slit her throat, killing her on the spot. Police rushed him to the hospital after arresting him. PTI
