Teenaged student stabbed to death in Tamil Nadu school

A Class VIII student was allegedly stabbed to death by his estranged friend in a class room of a government school in the district on Friday, triggering tension among the students and public.

Virudhunagar: A Class VIII student was allegedly stabbed to death by his estranged friend in a class room of a government school in the district on Friday, triggering tension among the students and public.

13-year-old G Baskar was stabbed with a sharp-edged weapon thrice in the forehead by the assailant at Pandaludi near Aruppukottai even as fellow students watched in horror, police said.

The boy was rushed to a hospital, but died on the way.

Personal enmity was stated to be the reason behind the murder, which occurred at around 9 am before the classes started for the day, police said.

A case had been registered against the assailant, also a minor and a former student of the school, they said, adding he is absconding.

Local residents blocked road traffic demanding action against the culprit.
