TESO pats Modi, calls for political solution in Sri Lanka

Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation (TESO), headed by DMK president M Karunanidhi, on Tuesday lauded the Narendra Modi regime for coming forward to find a political solution for the Tamils issue in Sri Lanka and urged the Centre to expedite steps in that direction.

Chennai: Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation (TESO), headed by DMK president M Karunanidhi, on Tuesday lauded the Narendra Modi regime for coming forward to find a political solution for the Tamils issue in Sri Lanka and urged the Centre to expedite steps in that direction.
"It is a matter of solace that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led regime at the Centre has come forward to find a political solution for the Sri Lankan Tamils issue," a resolution adopted at the TESO meet said, referring to a recent meeting Sri Lankan Tamil MPs had with Modi.
The meet was presided over by Karunanidhi, who is also the chief of TESO.
The meet asked the Centre to "expedite necessary steps" towards a political solution for Tamils in the island nation.
Urging the Centre to retrieve the boats of Tamil Nadu fishermen from Sri Lankan custody, it demanded that the state and the Centre find a permanent solution to end the travails of the state's fishermen.
Another resolution asked the United Nations not to give the nod for Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse or any other representative of that nation to participate in the UN general council meet slated to begin next month.
"Sri Lanka must not be allowed in the meet as it did not allow a UN investigation panel to probe rights violation there," it said.
A protest demonstration will be held here on September 3, focusing on these issues, the TESO meet said.
