Three kg gold bars worth Rs 1.5 crore seized

Chennai: Gold bars, weighing three kgs, which were hidden beneath a seat of an Air India flight from Dubai, were seized on Friday, airport officials said.

The gold bars, worth about Rs 1.5 crore, were found hidden under the seat of the flight, they said.

The flight, after its stop-over here, was scheduled to leave for Delhi, the officials said, adding, the passenger must have brought the consignment from Dubai but had to abandon it in the aircraft due to increased vigilance by the customs staff at the arrival area.
