Erode: Six youths, including four college
students, have been arrested for allegedly murdering a
landlord-cum-business man, police said on Wednesday.

The body of KM Elangovan, with stab injuries, was found
floating in Kalingarayan canal near Mannadampalayam, about 35
km from here, on September 25.

Elangovan, who was residing at Coimbatore with his family,
came to his farm house at Kumarasamy Guoundenpalayam near here
on Saturday in a jeep with the four students while two others
had come on a two-wheeler.

The servant of the house noticed on Sunday that Elangovan
was missing and also found blood stains at several places in
the house and informed the police.

Police said the four students had demanded interest
free loans from Elangovan who was also Joint Secretary of the
College Administrative Board, to pursue their studies. The
other two were daily wage earners who wanted employment
at his mushroom firm. When Elangovan refused, they murdered
him, police said.

They then tried to sell the jeep but police traced them
near Avinashi and seized the vehicle.

The six have been remanded to judicial custody.
