TN announces Rs five lakh as relief for missing fishermen kin

Tamil Nadu government announced Rs five lakh each as relief to the next of kin of four fishermen from Rameswaram who went missing after venturing into the sea recently.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday announced
Rs five lakh each as relief to the next of kin of four
fishermen from Rameswaram who went missing after venturing
into the sea recently.

The body of one of them was found washed ashore in a Sri
Lankan island, after the four had set sail on April 2, an
official press release here said.

"Since 10 days have passed since they went missing, with
the body of one found and the rest yet to return, Chief
Minister M Karunanidhi has directed awarding relief of Rs five
lakh each to the families of the fishermen," it said.

The compensation had been announced keeping with
precedents, it added.
