TN Assembly adjourns after MLAs death

Tamil Nadu Assembly was on Monday adjourned for the day following the death of CPI MLA SP Muthukumaran in a road accident near Tiruchirappally on Sunday.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Assembly was on Monday adjourned for the day following the death of CPI MLA SP Muthukumaran in a road accident near Tiruchirappally on Sunday.

Speaker D Jayakumar made an obituary reference after
which members observed silence for few minutes in respect of
the deceased legislator.

First-time MLA from Puthukottai Muthukumaran (43) was
killed after the car in which he was travelling turned turtle
at Annavasal. He is survived by wife, a son and daughter.

Governor K Rosaiah and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had
condoled his death.

Jayalalithaa had said that Muthukumaran functioned
`efficiently` during his brief stint as MLA in the assembly,
winning the appreciation of all.
