Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah on Wednesday congratulated Viswanathan Anand on retaining the world Chess championship title, saying he has made the nation proud.

"I convey my heartiest greetings to you on winning the world chess championship. The nation and every Indian feels proud on your winning the chess championship for the fifth time," the Governor said in his message.

Rosaiah also wished Anand all success in his future endeavours.

Anand retained the world title today at Moscow, his fifth crown and fourth in a row, after beating Israel's Boris Gelfand 2.5-1.5 in a rapid chess tie breaker.

The two Grandmasters had ended the 12-game championship match with a 6-6 stalemate.
