Chennai: Charging the ruling DMK government with allowing only private hospitals to set up vaccination points for Swine Flu, Opposition leader and AIADMK General Secretary Jayalalithaa today sought to know why free vaccinations could not be given as more than Rs 3000 crore has been allocated in the budget.

"The government had earmarked Rs 3,889 crore in the budget for the Public Health Department. Why can't a portion of the money be allocated for free vaccinations?," she asked in a statement here today.

Pointing out that the health Minister had made it clear that there would be no free swineflu vaccinations in government hospitals, she said poor patients would now have to pay Rs 600 in private hospitals for treatment.
