Chennai: Tamil Nadu Police was well equipped to tackle any emergency situation and the State Government has put in place the Rapid Action Force across the State to ensure safety of people and property, a top police official said.
Speaking at the Conference on "Physical and Soft
Infrastructure Security" organized by Confederation of Indian
Industry (CII) in here, Director General of Police Letika
Saran said 30,000 more police personnel would be added in
next three years at various police stations to ensure 24 x 7
She said police and the public have to work together to
ensure peace in the state.
Highlighting various initiatives of the Police department
in providing protection to the people of the State, she said
it had created separate teams to tackle the disturbances
arising out of extremism, religious fundamentalism and
providing security for VVIPs and high value installations.
