TN SI`s murder: Jaya demands sacking of two ministers

AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa demanded sacking of two ministers, accusing them of not taking any action to save the life of a policeman, who was crying for help after being attacked by a gang, despite witnessing his plight.

Chennai: AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa on Saturday demanded sacking of two ministers, accusing them of not taking any action to save the life of a policeman, who was crying for help after being attacked by a gang, despite witnessing his plight.

Vetrivel, a sub-inspector, was lying in a pool of blood after being attacked by a gang in Tirunelveli district when the convoy of ministers M R K Panneerselvam and Mohideen Khan was passing through the area yesterday.
"The ministers did not take any steps to save the sub-inspector. They had only called for an ambulance during the golden hour period," she said in a statement here.

Instead of waiting for the ambulance, if the ministers had taken steps to take the injured to a nearby hospital by their car or a police vehicle immediately, his life could have been saved, she said.

Eyewitnesses claimed Vetrivel was screaming for help but did not get any assistance in time from the ministers and accompanying officials.
Though later taken to a hospital, Vetrivel, who got a double promotion for being part of STF that gunned down forest brigand Veerappan, succumbed to his injuries.

Jayalalithaa condemned the incident and demanded dismissal of the ministers, describing their action as "inhuman".
