TN state planning commission reconstituted
The Tamil Nadu government has reconstituted the State Planning Commission and named retired senior IAS officer Santha Sheela Nair as its Vice Chairman.
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has reconstituted the State Planning Commission and named retired senior IAS officer Santha Sheela Nair as its Vice Chairman.
The Commission functions under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister and plays a key role in the preparation of the Annual Plans and the Five Year plans.
An order on the reconstitution of the Commission was issued by the Planning, Development and Special Initiatives department last week.
The finalization of the annual plan was normally completed before presentation of the budget for the financial year and discussions on the proposed plan schemes for current fiscal were proposed to commence shortly, an official release said.
The approach Paper for the 12th Plan would also have to be prepared and the working groups for various sectors were being constituted, it said.
Other members of the Commission are: V Shantha, Chairman of Chennai-based Cancer Institute, K Sridhar, K Ramasamy, Vice Chancellor of Karpagam University, Coimbatore, A C Muthiah, E Balagurusamy, former Vice Chancellor of Anna University.
