Chennai: DMK chief M Karunanidhi on Sunday charged
that Vigilance raids were being conducted against senior Tamil
Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) officials because they
were appointed during the DMK regime.
"We have information that the government wants to replace
the TNPSC chairman and others, appointed during DMK regime,
with persons of their choice. Vindictive action is being taken
against persons who did not heed the demand to quit their
posts," he alleged.
It was in this connection that raids were conducted at the
premises of TNPSC officials on Friday, he claimed while
writing in party mouthpiece 'Murasoli'.
Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC)
officials had on Friday conducted raids at the residences of
senior TNPSC officials, including TNPSC Joint Secretary
Michael Jerald, in connection with alleged irregularities in
appointments.
DVAC had last month conducted raids on the residence and
offices of TNPSC Chairman T R Sellamuthu and its members.
Karunanidhi also slammed Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on
issues such as Uniform Education and the ruling AIADMK
choosing to neglect the new Assembly-Secretariat complex
constructed during his regime, saying she was "adamant".
