`TNSTC incurred Rs 6150 cr loss due to DMK misrule`

Tamilnadu Transport Corporation incurrred a loss of Rs 6,150 crore due to `misrule` during DMK regime, according to transport minister Senthil Balaji.

Erode: The Tamilnadu State Transport Corporation has incurrred a loss of Rs 6,150 crore due to `misrule` during the DMK regime but it was being run smoothly after the AIADMK government came to power, according to transport minister Senthil Balaji.

"The corporation incurred a loss of 6150 crore due to DMK misrule.After AIADMK came to power,Chief Minister Jayalalithaa sanctioned Rs 60 crore every month to enable it run smoothly. With this money, salaries and other pending payments to staff were granted," he said at a function here yesterday.

He said TNSTC would induct 3000 more buses into its fleet this year. A similar number of buses were purchased last year and are in operation, he said.

He said government`s health scheme for TNSTC crew has so far benefitted 22,477 drivers and 1,290 conductors. They had undergone free medical check up and treatment at the Institute of Road Transport Medical College Hospital at Perundurai.
He said 46 new Depots would be formed of which Erode district will get two- one at Kodumudi and another in the city, where the State Express Transport Corporation depot would be formed.
