New Delhi: As Trinammol Congress (TMC) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) are headed for massive wins in West Bengal Assembly Election 2016 and Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2016 respectively, Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated Mamata Banerjee and J Jayalalithaa.

PM Modi telephoned both AIADMK supremo and TMC chief and conveyed his wishes

"Spoken to @MamataOfficial ji & congratulated her on the impressive victory. My best wishes to her as she begins her 2nd term," the PM tweeted.

"Had a telephone conversation with Jayalalithaa ji and congratulated her on her victory. Also conveyed my best wishes to her. @AIADMKOfficialq," his another tweet said.

West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress and Tamil Nadu's ruling AIADMK were set to retain power on Thursday as the BJP was on the road to victory in Assam and the Left made a comeback in Kerala.

Mamata Banerjee, the stormy petrel of West Bengal politics, once again proved a master strategist decimating the new Left-Congress combination and the BJP all of whom sought to checkmate her return to power.
