Chennai: Asking party men to maintain discipline
after being shown the door out of AIADMK-led alliance, MDMK chief Vaiko Friday asked them to desist from activities that would bring disrepute to the party.

His advice came in the wake of reported burning of AIADMK
leader Jayalalithaa`s effigies allegedly by MDMK supporters in
neighbouring Tambaram and Theni.

"We had been maintaining dignity and peaceful approach
during seat-sharing talks even as scores of party workers have earned good name for MDMK by virtue of their behaviour. Some four or five persons, had burnt the effigies of AIADMK General Secretary (Jayalalithaa) at Tambaram and Theni," he said.
In a statement here, he "strongly" condemned the incidents, saying such persons did it with the intention of bringing disrepute to MDMK, and urged his supporters not to take
recourse to such steps.

A high-level decision making body of MDMK, AIADMK`s ally
since 2006, is scheduled to meet tomorrow to discuss the
situation as the lead partner went ahead with announcing its
constituencies even before finalising them in consultations
with allies, leaving little room for MDMK.
Irate MDMK supporters had reportedly burnt effigies of Jayalalithaa at Tambaram and Theni irked over AIADMK announcing its 160 candidates for the April 13 Assembly polls.
