Chennai: In line with AIADMK's poll promise, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Thursday, reasserted her commitment to move towards total prohibition in the state.
“I'm clear and consistent on bringing total prohibition (liquor ban) in a phased manner,” he said.
“I have reduced the timings of the shops and closed down 500 shops as the first step of step by step prohibition. This will continue,” she said.
Incidentally, state Finance Minister O Paneerselvam had made no announcement on 'Total Prohibition' in his budget proposals tabled in the assembly on July 22.
