Centre developing fonts in all 22 languages Berhampur: Fonts in all 22 regional languages were being developed by the Centre and will be available for download, Union minister Sachin Pilot said today.

The central government had taken the decision to develop regional language fonts to make rural youths in the country computer literate, Pilot, the Union Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology, said while presiding over the inauguration of a Software Technology Parkn of India (STPI) here.

The time was not far away when rural people would get required information at the click of a mouse following the decision by the Centre to establish Common Service Centers (CSC) in each village, he said.

Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the STPI, the third in the state after Bhubaneswar and Rourkela and the 52nd in the country.

Patnaik said Orissa was emerging as one of the major investment destinations in Information Technology with several renowned IT companies establishing units and several others showing interest to come to the state.

Stating that there has been significant growth in the IT sector in the state in the last five years, the chief minister said in the next three to four years it was expected to increase manifold as several BPOs, IT and financial services had shown interest.

The government was also making efforts to bring all departments under e-governance with at least 40 departments already under it, he added.
