Beijing: China's mobile phone operators have added 70.83 million new subscribers this year, bringing the country's total number of cell phone users to 929.84 million, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) statistics has shown.
The data suggests more Chinese citizens are relying on the mobile phones as their primary mode of communication.
According to the MIIT, the total number of third-generation (3G) mobile phone service subscribers numbered 87.2 million in China in July, the Xinhua news agency reports.
Fixed-line telecommunication companies, however, lost 4.89 million subscribers between January and July.
The Chinese telecommunications industry earned 559.46 billion yuan in business revenues during the January-July period, MIIT statistics showed.
