New Delhi: The social media platform, Facebook openly rejects the rumor that the company is listening to users' phone calls through their smartphone's microphones, according to Gizmodo reports.
In an official blog post, Facebook clarified that it is not secretly listening or tapping any phone call through users microphone.
This official declaration came in response to the recent reports that claimed that the social media giant is using background conversation of users to sell their adds.
This idea was put forward by Kelli Burns, a professor of mass communication at the University of South Florida and also claimed that she received ads relevant to her conversation near the phone.
Facebook clearly stated in its blog post that 'We only access your microphone if you have given our app permission and if you are actively using a specific feature that requires audio.'
