Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Students Union held a protest against the recent killing of five undertrial suspected terror operatives in an exchange of fire with the police in Telangana.

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Students Union held a protest against the recent killing of five undertrial suspected terror operatives in an exchange of fire with the police in Telangana.

Alleging the incident to be a case of fake encounter, Abdullah Azzam, president of the students union, said: "The killing of the five handcuffed prisoners in cold blood by the police in a fake encounter was a blot on India's democracy and the country's justice delivery system."

"Such incidents mark a fascist mind set of the security apparatus of the country and are making a mockery of the development agenda of the present Government", he said addressing protesters last night.

Five undertrial suspected terror operatives were killed in police firing in Nalgonda district of Telanagna on April 7.

The AMU students' Union also condemned killing of twenty people from Tamil Nadu in a police operation in Chittoor on April 7 even as the family members and relatives of the deceased alleged that the incident was a "planned murder" by Andhra Pradesh Police.

The Union demanded a high level probe in both the incidents and punishment of those found guilty.
