New Delhi: Rohan Gajjar is the only Indian surviving in the singles event of the USD 10,000 ITF Futures event in Giza, Egypt as the fifth seed advanced to the quarter-finals.
The fifth seed Gajjar beat Duncan Mugabe of Uganda 6-3, 7-5 in the second round.
Gajjar will take on second seed and local favourite Karim Maamoun in the last-eight stage.
S Narayanswami, who had entered the event as lucky loser, became the second Indian falling to top seed Spaniard G Alcaide. The top seed easily won 6-4,6-1 in his second round.
Alcaide had earlier handed a 6-0, 6-0 mauling to Indian qualifier Ronak Manuja.
Karan Rastogi had also exited at an early stage after going down fighting 2-6, 7-6(3), 4-6 in the first round to seventh seed Spaniard G Pujol Granollers.
