New Delhi: Former national champion Isha
Lakhani and Sanaa Bhambri advanced to the second round of the
USD 10,000 ITF Futures women's tournament after straight set
wins here today.
Third seed Isha defeated a fighting wild card Shweta Rana
6-4 6-2 while fifth seed Sanaa ousted Armenia's Ani Amiraghyan
6-0 7-6(3) in their first round matches at DLTA complex.
Also advancing among Indians were sixth seed Parija
Maloo, Parul Goswami, Rishika Sunkara and qualifier Sheethal
Goutham.
Parija defeated Prerna Bhambri 6-3 6-3 while Parul
advanced after fourth seed Rushmi Chakravarthy opted out of
contest. Parul was leading 5-2 in the first set when Rashmi
pulled out.
Rishika outplayed fellow qualifier Likitha Shetty 6-2 6-1
and Sheethal made a spirited comeback to beat Aishwarya
Agrawal 4-6 6-0 7-5.
