Kolkata: India's new teen sensation Yuki Bhambri has been seeded fifth and will take on qualifier Rohan Gide in his opening match of the ITF men's Futues event at BTA courts here tomorrow.
The 17-year-old, who replaced injured Leander Paes in the
Davis Cup tie against South Africa and defeated Izak Van der
Merwe in the dead fifth rubber to complete India's
comprehensive 4-1 win, is currently ranked 415 in the ATP.
Yuki has got an easy draw and the Delhi lad is on a
collision course with fourth seeded Young-Jun Kim of Korea, if
they make the last-eight stage.
New Zealander Daniel King-Turner, who has been given the
top billing, will face S Narayanswami in his first round.
Alexander Satschko of Germany is seeded second and will take
on Vikram Reddy of India in a draw of 32.
National grass court champion Vishnu Vardhan, seeded
third, will open against Vivek Shokeen in the six-day meet
that carries a total prize purse of USD 15,000.
Two from the hosts city are in the main draw.
Saurav Sukul has been given a wild card entry while
Rupesh Roy, now based in the USA, has been seeded eighth.
Wild card entries are also given to Purav Raja, Ajai
Selvaraj and Chandril Sood.
In the doubles, Rohan Gajjar and Raja are the top seeds
and will face Vijayant Malik and Ronak Manuja in the draw of
16.
