Puducherry: The CPI(M) on Wednesday criticised decision of the government to disburse Rs 300 instead of 10 kg free rice through nationalised banks to each of the families discontinuing the distribution of rice through ration shops.
Secretary of Puducherry unit of the party R Rajangam said in a release here that the government should ensure that all essential commodities were available through the public distribution system.
He also wanted steps to ensure revival of the working of the three textile mills in Puducherry owned by the government.
He said his party would hold demonstration near the Assembly on March 11 when the Budget Session of the House would commence to bring to focus the demands of the party.
