Daman: Four persons, including a woman, have
been arrested for allegedly operating an inter-state
prostitution racket from a hotel in Bhimpore area here on Thursday,
police said.
"One Ranjeet Nabiya alias Robin, who is the main accused
has been arrested along with Ramprasad alias Gopal Prasad,
hotel manager Dhiraj Roy and a woman who hails from West
Bengal," Daman and Diu DGP Muktesh Chandra told reporters
here.
After getting tip off about the racket operating from
Daman, local police, posing as customer contacted Nabiya, who
ran the sex racket under the name of Daman Escort Service,
which is operated using a website of the same name, he said.
Nabiya agreed to send a girl to Hotel Prince. When he
came with the girl, police arrested him, Ramprasad, the girl
and the hotel manager, Chandra said.
According to Chandra, Nabiya has links with other escort
services involved in flesh trade in Bangalore, Pune, Goa and
other parts of the country. They are connected to each other
using different websites, he said.
"The website of Daman Escort Service contains photographs
of girls and their contact numbers, through which Nabiya, who
is based in Mumbai, used to operate in South Gujarat region,"
he added.
