Puducherry: Puducherry State unit of Janata Dal (United) on Saturday called upon the territorial administration for steps to consolidate the municipalities of Puducherry and Oulgaret to form a Municipal Corporation in Puducherry.
In a release here, President of the unit, R Arumugam said a resolution in this regard was adopted in the general council meeting of the party held earlier in the day. He said nearly ten lakh population spread over these municipalitaies would be served better.
He urged the government to cancel recognition of private schools not holding functions on ceremonial occasions in the past, if they persisted with the practice during the fortcoming Independence day also.
