Memorial Day of Mother of Aurobindo Ashram observed

Puducherry: Thousands of people from across the country and abroad Monday thronged the Aurobindo Ashram here and paid homage at the memorial of the "Mother" (Meira Alfassa) on her 41st death anniversary.

An estimated 8,000 people visited the Ashram and paid homage at the memorials of Aurobindo (the founder of the Ashram) and the Mother, his spiritual collaborator, Ashram sources said.

People sat in meditation before the memorials and visited the rooms of both Aurobindo and the Mother where they carried on their spiritual experiments, sources said.

The Mother passed away on November 17, 1973, while Aurobindo breathed his last on December 5, 1950.
