Puducherry pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

Puducherry: Puduchery Lt Governor Iqbal Singh Tuesday led the Union Territory to pay floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of celebrations of the 143rd birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation.

Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Speaker V Sabapathy, Ministers, legislators and officials joined the Lt Governor to pay homage at the statue of the Father of the Nation on the beach road.

A team of Congress leaders comprising the Union Minister of State in PMO V Narayanasamy, the leader of the opposition V Vaithilingam and the PCC leader A V Subramanian garlanded the statue after holding a programme at the party office.

Chief Minister N Rangasamy accompanied by Ministers, legislators and representatives of various organisations paid homage at the statue of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Kamaraj on the occasion of the leader`s death anniversary today. Congress leaders also paid homage at Kamaraj statue.
