12 injured in clash between BJP workers and civic employees in Meerut

 At least 12 people were injured when local BJP youth workers clashed with the employees of municipal body here over the issue of cleanliness in the city, police said.

Meerut: At least 12 people were injured when local BJP youth workers clashed with the employees of municipal body here over the issue of cleanliness in the city, police said.

The incident took place today when Meerut youth wing president Vivek Bajpai along with other workers reached the office of the civic agency, police said, adding, a clash erupted between both sides in which at least 12 people were injured.

According to Bajpai, they had gone to meet civic agency officials regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swachh Bharat' campaign and the clash was initiated by the employees of the municipal body.

However, the municipality has filed a complaint against the workers for barging in the office and vandalising public property, police said.

The BJP workers have also registered a case against the employees of the civic agency.
