At least 13 people were killed in rain-related incidents in Uttar Pradesh where many areas experienced heavy downpour since yesterday, official sources said here on Tuesday.

said here on Tuesday.

While three children were killed in Lucknow as they
fell into a drain, six died in Moradabad when a boat capsized
and one death each was reported from Unnao, Gorakhpur,
Sultanpur and Azamgarh.
Due to heavy to moderate rains in the last 24 hours,
major rivers continued to swell in several districts of the
state.

According to reports of Central Water Commission (CWC),
the water level of Ganga is rising in Fatehgarh, Dalmau
(Raebareli), Fafamau and Chatnag in Allahabad, Mirzapur,
Varanasi and Ballia.

Yamuna was rising in Kalpi, Hamirpur, Banda and Naini
(Allahabad), whereas Gomti is rising in Lucknow, Neemsar and
Bhatpurwa both in Sitapur, it said.

Ghagra was swelling at Elgin Bridge (Barabanki) and
Ayodhya while Rapti is rising in Bahraich, Shravasti,
Balrampur and Gorakhpur, it added.

According to the report, Bahraich received maximum
rainfall of 139 mm, Gorakhpur had 118.2 mm and Lucknow had 112
mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.
