Sitapur (UP): Thirteen persons were today killed and nine others injured when a truck lost control and hit a car and a cab on the Sitapur-Lakhimpur road in Shah Maholi area here, police said.
The mishap happened this evening when the truck heading to Lakhimpur lost control and hit a car injuring three before colliding with a cab killing 13 on the spot and injuring six more, Additional District Magistrate, Rajesh Pandey said.
All the 13, who died were men, he said, adding that the injured have been rushed to a hospital, where condition of two was stated critical.
The driver of truck managed to flee and a manhunt has been launched to nab him, Pandey said, adding that identity of those killed could not be ascertained.
